Commitment to Community

Since inception, Cash Store Financial has recognized the importance of contributing to the communities in which we do business. We take seriously our obligations as a responsible corporate citizen. We make direct financial contributions to dozens of charitable organizations nationally.  And we compensate our employees for taking time from work to volunteer in their communities.

Commitment to Diabetes Research

The centre piece of our corporate giving program is our Champions for Diabetes Research initiative.  Over seven years, we will raise at least $7.5 million in funding for the Alberta Diabetes Institute, a globally recognized centre of excellence for diabetes research, located at the University of Alberta. Cash Store Financial will directly contribute $2.0 million dollars: $1.4 million dollars in cash and $600,000 dollars in paid volunteer time to the Champions for Diabetes Research program.

Freedom Run Logo

Over the next seven years we will capitalize on our national network of over 521 branches to sponsor 34 fun runs across the country called The Cash Store Financial Freedom Run. Corporate sponsorships and individual donations raised through these runs will go directly toward researching a cure for diabetes.

We are also proud to have supported charitable organizations such as: Make a Wish Foundation, Youth Emergency Shelter Edmonton, MacEwan Foundation, the Aaron Moser Foundation, Alberta Foundation of Diabetes Research, Kids Kottage Foundation, the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame, Junior Achievement and the Bethany Care Foundation, just to name a few.

Cash Store Financial Gives Back

We are excited to be involved with the Edmonton Oil Kings Adopt-A-School program. Through this program, we donated tickets for the entire student body at Eastwood Elementary School and the grade 5 and 6 class at St. Vincent School in Edmonton, Alberta. The experience was unforgettable for the 280 students, parents and Cash Store Financial associates that took part.
