Commitment to Community
Since inception, we have given back to the communities in which we do business. With our extensive network of branches, located in over 200 Canadian communities, we recognize and embrace our social responsibility to make a difference for the people of Canada.
Our Volunteerism Policy encourages our associates to lend their voluntary support to programs that positively impact the qualtiy of life within our communities.
Roll of Honour
In March 2010, we received the Roll of Honour Award from the Alberta Association of Fundraising Executives, which celebrates extraordinary commitment and contributions from corporate citizens and individuals.
Commitment to Diabetes Research
We believe Cash Store Financial, with the participation and generous support of our associaties, can be a significant partner in finding a cure for diabetes. We have chosen to leverage our extensive branch network to raise money for diabetes research and to build national understanding about the disease. In 2008, we made a commitment to raise $7.5 million in support of the Alberta Diabetes Institute, a globally recognized Canadian Centre of Excellence located at the University of Alberta.
Through 33 Freedom Runs held across Canada, and three Freedom Festivals, Cash Store Financial continues to strive towards its goal. These Freedom runs have fostered teamwork, enlightened people to the risks and causes of diabetes, and have been just plan fun to participate in.
We are also proud to have supported charitable organizations such as: Make a Wish Foundation, Youth Emergency Shelter Edmonton, MacEwan Foundation, the Aaron Moser Foundation, Alberta Foundation of Diabetes Research, Kids Kottage Foundation, the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame, Junior Achievement and the Bethany Care Foundation, just to name a few.
Cash Store Financial Gives Back
We are excited to be involved with the Edmonton Oil Kings Adopt-A-School program. Through this program, we donated tickets for the entire student body at Eastwood Elementary School and the grade 5 and 6 class at St. Vincent School in Edmonton, Alberta. The experience was unforgettable for the 280 students, parents and Cash Store Financial associates that took part.
